We offer The Perfect Peel in the clinic as part of our range of carefully chosen chemical peels. After a few questions in the clinic, we thought it would be a good idea to spell out exactly what you can expect as a patient. Following our advice will give you the best possible success from the peeling process.
Benefits of The Perfect Peel:
- Removes excess pigment deposits, resulting in a brighter and more even skin tone.
- Stimulates the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, leading to firmer and more elastic skin.
- Thickens the granular layer and activates keratinocytes, promoting skin renewal.
- Improves skin texture and luminosity.
Pre-treatment (2-4 weeks before the peel):
Preparatory Products:
Use active ingredients to prepare the skin for the peel. This includes:
- The Perfect A: A topical formulation containing retinol that helps in skin cell turnover, enhancing the peel’s effectiveness.
- The Perfect Bleaching Cream: A cream designed to lighten skin tone and reduce the visibility of hyperpigmentation.
Sun Exposure:
Avoid intense sunlight and tanning beds to minimise skin damage and ensure the best results from the peel.
Always wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily; we recommend SPF 50+ for best protection.
Medical Considerations:
Inform your practitioner of any contraindications or cautions such as allergies, recent cosmetic procedures, skin conditions like eczema or rosacea, or an active skin infection. This ensures safety and tailors the peel to individual needs. Certain medications like isotretinoin should be mentioned.
Day of the peel:
Our trained practitioners apply the Perfect Peel solution to the skin.
Post-treatment Days 1 and 2:
Leave the peel solution on the skin for at least 6 hours, avoiding washing, touching, rubbing, or applying makeup.
Wash and dry the treated area in the evening, then apply the post-peel treatment overnight.
If experiencing irritation or discomfort, apply a small amount of hydrocortisone and/or use a cold compress.
Avoid moisturiser until peeling begins (usually on day 3).
Avoid excessive sweating, sauna, or heavy exercise during the peeling process.
Post-treatment Day 3-5:
Peeling begins
Apply The Perfect Peel moisturiser to control peeling and relieve tightness.
Do not rub, pick, or pull on the peeling skin; let it occur naturally to avoid scarring.
Gently wash and dry the treated area morning and night, then apply moisturiser as needed.
Apply SPF 30 or above every two hours when exposed to the sun.
If experiencing irritation or discomfort, apply hydrocortisone to the area.
Post-treatment Day 6 and beyond:
Peeling is normally complete, with mild sloughing possibly occurring in some areas.
Resume your normal skincare regime unless otherwise advised by your practitioner.
Continue to protect your skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or above.
2-4 weeks post-treatment:
Skin appears brighter, firmer, and more even-toned.
Improvements in skin texture and luminosity are visible.
Continue to protect the skin from sun exposure and maintain a consistent skincare routine.
4-6 weeks post-treatment:
Optimal results are achieved, with further improvements in skin health and appearance.
Discuss with your practitioner the need for additional treatments or maintenance of the results.
By following this timeline and the guidance provided by your practitioner, you can ensure the best possible outcome from The Perfect Peel treatment. Remember to be patient with the peeling process and protect your skin from sun exposure to maintain the results.
