Hydrafacial Aftercare Advice
After your procedure, your part is to follow the instructions provided by your practitioner. If you have any questions about those instructions, please contact your practitioner to clarify them for you. We want you to get the best possible optimal results and get the maximum benefits of the Hydrafacial treatment.
Pre and Post Hydrafacial Care
Hydrafacial must not be carried out within 2 weeks of injectable treatments such as Botox & fillers. The same also applies to certain laser treatments, deep chemical peels, waxing, and threading. Botox & fillers can be given on the same day after your Hydrafacial. Please contact us at the clinic if in any doubt about activities you will be involved with post-Hydrafacial.
A Hydrafacial Should be Avoided if these Contraindications apply:
- Allergy to shellfish, honey, or aspirin
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Cold sores or fever blisters without premedication
- Lymphatic disorder, inflammation of lymph vessels, Lymphoedema
- Roaccutane or Accutane within the last 6 months
48 Hours Before Your Hydrafacial Treatment
- Do not use any over-the-counter acne medications such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
- Stop using active products including Retinols/AHA/BHA’s & exfoliants.
The Day of Your Treatment
- A consultation & consent form will be completed with you.
- With the addition of boosters and serums, we can tailor your Hydrafacial to make it more suited to skin concerns such as acne, anti-ageing, pigmentation & rosacea.
- For men, shaving is not recommended on the day of treatment. If you choose to shave, please shave at least 3-4 hours prior to the treatment.
- Please come free of makeup on the day.
- Redness may occur during or after your Hydrafacial and tends to go away quickly. Some other possible side effects include peeling/flaking, sensitivity, heat sensation, and swelling. Sometimes people also experience an increase in blemishes a few days after as the skin renews.
Hydrafacial Aftercare
Temporary Side Effects
You may experience temporary discolouration, redness, or swelling. These symptoms are normal and should resolve within a few hours. Make-up can be applied immediately after treatment, but avoid topical Vitamin A compounds for at least 48 hours unless otherwise directed.
The First 48 Hours after treatment with Hydrafacial
- It’s a good idea to learn about Hydrafacial aftercare before the actual treatment so you can do things like reschedule your workout (no heat and sweat please!), plan ways to protect your skin, and consider your skincare needs. You should know that your skin may experience slight sensitivity during the hours after the treatment. Aftercare is essential.
- Avoid hot environments & heat (saunas, sun beds, intense workouts).
- Avoid swimming pools.
- Apply sunscreen daily with at least SPF 30, but it is essential to limit sun exposure.
- Avoid using products that contain Retinol, AHA/BHA’s & exfoliants.
- Avoid using depilatories & waxing as they might cause irritation.
- Avoid using any over-the-counter acne medications.
- Washing your face is fine but please use a gentle cleanser.
- Skip the toner as it may result in dryness and irritation.
Protecting the Treated Area
Protecting the treated area is important to ensure proper healing. Limit natural and artificial UV exposure, and avoid extreme heat. If you will be exposed to the sun, use a sun cream with at least SPF 30. Avoid harsh exfoliation, other treatments, or waxes/peels for the next 7 days or as directed.
Hydration
Maintaining adequate hydration is a simple yet effective way to enhance your recovery. It’s best to drink plenty of water and limit the intake of diuretics like caffeine and alcohol. Proper hydration supports skin health and aids in the healing process.
Hydrafacial Results
Many patients notice visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one Hydrafacial treatment. The smooth results and hydration can last between 5 to 7 days or even longer. We recommend one treatment per month to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, and oily or congested skin. Continued Hydrafacial treatments are advised to maintain these skin health benefits.
